Numbers

The ordinals can also be given an adverbial ending to give words like "firstly" (or "first of all"), "secondly", etc.

             First, we will eat. Unue, ni mangxos.

The noun form of the numbers is useful for denoting groups. Two of these have identical meanings in both English and Esperanto:

             The boys are a duo. La knaboj estas duo.
Larry, Moe and Curly are a trio. Larry, Moe, kaj Curly estas trio.

Finally, there are three suffixes which are used with numbers. We will learn more about them in a later lesson, but they are given here as examples for completeness:

             He is doubly green. Li estas duoble verda.
        They travelled in fours. Ili vojagxis kvarope.
       He half-wrote the papers. Li duone skribis la paperojn.
