Lesson Four: Pronouns, etc.

There are seven personal pronouns(*) in Esperanto; they all end with -i. Like nouns, they receive -n when they are used as direct objects:

   I: mi        I am selling mice. Mi vendas musojn.
 you: vi          You saw the boy. Vi vidis la knabon.
  he: li     He closed the drawer. Li fermis la tirkeston.
 she: sxi         The dog met her. La hundo renkontis sxin.
  it: gxi     It covers the floor. Gxi kovras la plankon.
  we: ni     We will sell pencils. Ni vendos krajonojn.
they: ili    The child loves them. La infano amas ilin.

As in English, there is only one word for "you", both singular and plural.
