Lesson Six: Prepositions

Prepositions create phrases that describe the time, direction, or position of an object or event ("He went to the store", "He left during the performance"). In Esperanto, prepositions are used much the same way as they are in English, although the precise shades of meaning are sometimes different. The important ones are listed here for complete reference. You are not expected to memorize them all at once. Further shades of meaning on each can be obtained by clicking on the word:
