Welcome to issue Succ (0) of
. Successor, but successful? Issue 0
seems to have been well-received and widely distributed. However, the editor
would like to see more contributions. There is a lot happening in the
community at large; tell us about it! The frequency of the
newsletter will depend on the frequency of contributions.
As conferences like ICODP, PSTV, FORTE and AMAST in 1993 showed, there
continues to be much
activity world-wide. In fact
has
generated a small industry. Did the people in Twente know what they were
starting? (As we all know, TWENTE is half of FORTE!) This newsletter reports
on some of the continuing international activities on
.
As you will read in this issue,
is now available via WWW (World
Wide Web) and ftp (File Transfer Program). WWW supports hypertext-like links
to other documents and software. Axel Belinfante (University of Twente,
belinfan@cs.utwente.nl) writes to suggest that
might exploit
this facility to link to other sources of information. Luigi Logrippo
(University of Ottawa, luigi@csi.uottawa.ca) has already started a
collection of
documents available by ftp: lotos.csi.uottawa.ca. Pepe
Mañas (Technical University of Madrid, jmanas@dit.upm.es) has also set
up an email exploder for
news: lotos@dit.upm.es. So there are
already some sources of information that could be used with WWW. If you are
interested to support Axel's proposal, please get in touch with him.
Issue 0 mentioned a filter called lottex to process
for
inclusion in
documents. Axel Belinfante (University of Twente,
belinfan@cs.utwente.nl) drew attention to lgrind - a general
filter to format a variety of languages for
. In fact, lgrind
derives from the original vgrind for formatting nroff/troff. At
Twente they have lgrind definitions for
. Again, please contact
Axel if you are interested.
