SMILE demo
General SMILE information
Look here for an introduction to the LOTOS Simulator SMILE. The introduction is part of the user manual
(also available as
gzip-ed postscript), which also contains a "Quick tour through SMILE".
How to run the demo
To run this demo, you need to be running X Windows, and the server
that serves this page to you should have access to your display.
Before you start the demo, make sure that above is valid - eg. by
executing the xhost command:
xhost +this.server.name.domain
where this.server.name.domain is the name (or IP address) of
the server that serves this page.
If you are using the Mosaic browser, the this.server.name.domain
is visible in the Document URL field:
it is the name between http:// and the
first colon (:) or slash (/) that follows it.
The idea of this demo is to display the SMILE windows on your
display. To be able to do so, we need to know, of course, what is your
display. In the future we may allow you to enter your display name
into a form, but for the moment, we suppose that you are using
display :0 at the machine from which you access this page.
Demo Specifcations
We can demo SMILE with the following specifications
(in the future we might also offer a form in which you can enter your
own specification for demoing):
NOTE: selecting a specification already starts a demo!!!
- the demo_smile specification: the running example in the SMILE user manual
- the buffer specification
- the philo specification
- the pots specification
